J.T. Cheeseman Provincial Park is located in western Newfoundland approximately 10 km from Channel-Port aux Basques on the Trans Canada Highway, Route 1. This gateway park is a great starting point or ending destination for your visit to Newfoundland and Labrador. The endangered Piping Plover calls the sandy dunes of this provincial park home in the summer.

The J.T. Cheeseman Provincial Park campsites are open seasonally.

Facilities and services:
  • All 92 campsites have a picnic table, fireplace and garbage can
  • 22 Campsites have electrical services
  • Comfort Station (hot/cold running water, showers, wash basins and flush toilets)

Cancellations are free and can be completed online, through the call centre or by calling the park directly. Cancellations allow other patrons the opportunity to camp.

Check in time:
3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Check out time:
2:00 p.m.

Provincial Parks offer a Campsite Drop-In Service. For further information, contact park staff.

"D" Campsites - Drop-In:
Non-reservable - must be booked at the park checkpoint in person.
Maximum stay is 7 nights.

Quiet Hours:
11:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m

Generator use:
Must be turned off between 12 midnight and 8:00 a.m.(Exceptions for medical reasons must be approved in writing by Park Manager prior to check in).

Pet Policy:
Pets are welcome but must be on leash at all times and owner must clean up after pet.

Unsold Seasonal campsites:
Are reservable from 1 - 7 nights (inclusive) after 7:00 pm NST park opening day.

Unsold Monthly campsites:
Are reservable from 1 - 30 nights (inclusive) after 7:00 pm NST park opening day.

Camping fees:
Payable in full upon arrival at the park and are non-refundable.
