Pinware River Provincial Park

Pinware River Provincial Park is located in southern Labrador on the Labrador Straits on Route 510, 40 km east of Blanc Sablon. A ferry crosses from St. Barbe on the Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland to Blanc Sablon, Quebec. The 68 hectare park covers diverse terrain and vegetation and is located on a scheduled salmon river. Red Bay National Historic Site, home to a 16 century Basque whaling station, is nearby. This is the only provincial campground in Labrador.

The Pinware River Provincial Park campsites are open seasonally.

  • All 22 campsites have a picnic table, fireplace and garbage can
  • Comfort Station (hot/cold running water, showers, wash basins, flush toilets and laundry services).

Cancellations are free and can be completed online, through the call centre or by calling the park directly. Cancellations allow other patrons the opportunity to camp.

3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Check out time:
2:00 p.m.

Provincial Parks offer a Campsite Drop-In Service. For further information, contact park staff.

"D" Campsites - Drop-In:
Non-reservable - must be booked at the park checkpoint in person.
Maximum stay is 7 nights.

Quiet Hours:
11:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m

Generator use:
Must be turned off between 12 midnight and 8:00 a.m.(Exceptions for medical reasons must be approved in writing by Park Manager prior to check in).

Pet Policy:
Pets are welcome but must be on leash at all times and owner must clean up after pet.

Unsold Seasonal campsites:
Are reservable from 1 - 7 nights (inclusive) after 7:00 pm NST park opening day.

Unsold Monthly campsites:
Are reservable from 1 - 30 nights (inclusive) after 7:00 pm NST park opening day.

Camping fees:
Payable in full upon arrival at the park and are non-refundable.

Swimming:
Swimming is not recommended due to strong tidal action.
